Cynthia Ferris To All Instructors

Cynthia Ferris began playing piano at age 6 with her mother as her teacher. Throughout junior and senior high school and college she played in church, accompanied area music students for music festivals and recitals and was the rehearsal accompanist for high school and local theatre musical productions. When her parents had company over, she and her two siblings would provide one or two musical numbers
as entertainment for their guests.

Miss Cynthia has been teaching piano since she was 14 years old. Her first students included children from her neighborhood and church and, most notably, her younger brother (with mom nearby to keep peace – especially when he wanted to play ‘Parade of The Wooden Soldiers’ too fast). Since those early years, she has received a Bachelor of Music degree with piano as her minor, is a registered Suzuki Piano teacher and is a certified Royal Conservatory of Music Elementary Piano teacher. Her students consistently earn high scores in festivals, examinations and competitions. Piano teaching has most definitely been a life-long passion and love.

Traditional lesson books (Alfred, Bastien, Faber), Suzuki lessons and Royal Conservatory of Music repertoire and practical examinations are all available to the SNHPA students who study piano with Miss Cynthia. In addition, she is a member of the Las Vegas Music Teachers Association so all her students are welcome to participate in Jr. Festival, Musicianship Exams and local competitions. The performance opportunities are both optional and endless!

Miss Cynthia moved from Michigan to Las Vegas in 1986. She has one daughter, Kira Marie, with whom she likes to cook, craft and enjoy afternoon tea. The rest of her children include two husky-mix daughters, Rhumba and Cumbie and one furry cat son, Pepe’ – otherwise known as ‘The Three Amigos’.
