Choir Classes
Elementary Choir ( ages 8-11) This is an ideal class for students who have taken a few years of Elementary Music and would like to expand into a more organized ensemble experience while still working on the basics, or for those young students with little choir experience who would like to prepare for the more advanced choirs. This is a fun and engaging class tailored to the younger singers to establish vocal basics and group performance technique. Elementary Choir students perform a short family presentation on the last day of class.
Concert Choir ( ages 11-18) Concert Choir is for students (male and female) ages 11-18 with very little or no formal choir experience. No audition or previous experience required. In this class the students will be introduced to being a part of a choir by working on ear training and fundamental vocal technique in a fun group environment, will learn to sing parts and put songs together, and they will also learn songs with basic ukulele accompaniment. The Concert Choir performs on the Winter and Spring concerts and may be eligible for choir festivals in the spring.
*Advanced Chamber Choir (ages 12-18) This class is a chorale-style ensemble for students (male and female) ages 12-18. Students must have previous formal choir experience, good use of vocal technique and a developed ear, and will be accepted by audition only. The students in this choir will work on more advanced literature and fine-tune their vocal instruments while learning various styles of fun repertoire. The Advanced Chamber Choir performs on the Winter and Spring concerts, and students will be invited to perform at the choir festivals in the spring, as well as other community events. Auditions are held before classes begin each semester, in August and January.
*Show Choir ( ages 14-18) This is our elite vocal ensemble for students (male and female) ages 14-18, and is by audition only. These students work on show tunes primarily and learn choreography with their music. Students must have the ability to move within the music well and have good control of their vocal technique. This class moves through music faster and generally covers more material in one semester than the concert choirs. The Show Choir performs on the Winter and Spring concerts, as well as other community events. Auditions are held before classes begin each semester, in August and January.
