Jessie Ellison To All Instructors

Jessie Ellison, Advanced Theory/Bands, was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her love for music began at the age of five when she first began playing the piano. After playing piano and guitar for years, she then fell in love with trombone and concert band. She has had experience performing in numerous chamber groups, solos, concert bands, jazz bands, and symphony orchestras in places such as the Smith Center, Carnegie Hall, and even touring throughout Ireland. Though she loves playing and performing, she has found that her true passion lies in teaching. Her first teaching opportunities were in middle and high school where she taught privately to younger players. Alongside joining the SNHPA faculty in 2020, she has since found herself volunteering and teaching in various classrooms across Clark County, as well as instructing students privately on trombone. She is currently attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a classical trombonist in pursuit of her Music Education degree and is one of the founding members of UNLV’s Future Music Educators branch under the National Association of Music Educators (NAFME). It is her goal to provide students with exceptional mentorship to foster growth as musicians and as people. She has a student-centered teaching approach in which she uses her own passions for music and music theory to fuel passion within her students, adjusting her instruction based on the needs of each individual student.
