Our Story

The Southern Nevada Homeschool Performing Arts organization kicked off its first season in the Fall of 2015. The mission of SNHPA is to provide high quality music education to those that do not have access to a music program in their school setting, and offer it at a reasonable fee. The classes are held once per week on Fridays. The target student are those that are homeschooled, but includes students who attend school online, charter school students who do not attend on Fridays, and high school/college concurrently enrolled students.

SNHPA Group Shot

The mission of SNHPA is to offer a music program in the Las Vegas Valley that teaches music from the ground up, starting at the Elementary Music program and continuing into the beginning instrument and choir classes that help students learn the basics of their instrument/voice and the language of music. Students are offered many levels of ensembles so that their instruction and music participation experience can carry through the intermediate and even advanced levels of playing.

Students are also offered access to performances and other festivals through the SNHPA program. To compliment the ensemble experience, there are different levels of music theory taught which begins with the fundamentals of the music language and works through to levels that would position students ready to enter a college music theory class.

The instructors in the SNHPA program are the best in field, trained professionals with a wealth of experience, and that really know how to create a successful product in just one hour per week.

This program was put in place to fulfill a pressing need in the Las Vegas Valley and has continued to grow through the help of the professional staff, the amazing Board of Directors and the leagues of parent volunteers. SNHPA is a non-profit organization.

Tell Me More

SNHPA offers a music program in the Las Vegas Valley that teaches music from the ground up, starting at the Elementary Music program and continuing into the beginning instrument and choir classes that help students learn the basics of their instrument/voice and the language of music.

We currently offer band, orchestra, choir, guitar, private piano, elementary music, percussion ensemble, and music theory. Students are offered many levels of ensembles so that their instruction and music participation experience can carry through the intermediate and advanced levels of playing.

To compliment the ensemble experience, the different levels of music theory begins with the fundamentals of the music language and works through to levels that would position students ready to enter a college music theory class. Students are also offered access to outside performances, festivals, Nevada All-State ensembles, and more through the SNHPA program, opportunities not generally available to the home school and virtual school communities. The instructors in the SNHPA program are the best in field, trained professionals with a wealth of experience, and that really know how to create a successful product in just about one hour per week.

Here is quick over view of how our program works:

Registration for classes opens twice a year:  August and January.

SNHPA will hold an Open House in late August for registration and auditions, allowing students to be placed in their appropriate level.  During this time, we offer a petting zoo of musical instruments for those who may still be deciding what to play.  This allows students to explore, play, and try out new instruments. We will then begin classes with 12 weeks of instructional learning before the students participate in either a Parent Showcase or formal performance, depending on their class level.

We meet every Friday following closely with the CCSD  calendar. We meet at Christ Church Episcapol

Christ Church Episcapol

2000 S Maryland Parkway

Las Vegas, Nevada 89104

Classes are held 11:00 pm – 3:00 pm

There are two main concerts each year, December and May, with a few ambassador events throughout the year.  Some other opportunities include Solo and Ensemble, All-State Small School Festival, Honor Band and Orchestra through Pinecrest Academy, and more.
