You will first need to fill out a request for Membership and pay the non refundable $15 membership fee. This is once a semester and per family. After submitting your request for membership you will need to sign in on the home page and it will take you to your accounts page where you can pay the $15.  Once paid and submited, you will receive an email notifing you of your acceptance, this then allows you to finish the registration process and register for classes. You will not be approved until the $15 has been paid.

We have 12 weeks of regular classes, but do take most CCSD holidays and breaks within the term, making a term longer than 12 weeks. Every class, excluding music theory classes, will have a performance at the end of the term. Please check our Calendar page for more information about regularly scheduled class days.

We rent space at Christ Church Episcopal but are not affiliated with the church in any other capacity. We are not a religious group and welcome students from all backgrounds to join in these amazing classes.

We offer two semesters per year – a fall and spring term. Each term is 12 weeks in length. We do not currently offer classes during the summer. For our most up-to-date information on semesters starting dates, please see our Calendar page.

Your child can enroll in as many classes as they can fit into their 4-hour schedule! The beauty of our program is that students can participate in multiple ensembles!

Learning a musical instrument or singing in a choir will involve home practice. Generally the Elementary Music classes and Music Theory classes do not involve a lot of home study, but the ensembles will require students to practice at home, recommended 5 days per week. We strive to offer a ‘typical’ band/orchestra/choir/guitar experience, but unlike our CCSD counterparts, we only get together once per week. In order to make progress, home practice is a must.

Parents are always welcome in our classes. If you are a parent that would like to participate in the class as a student learning an instrument, you are welcome! Our administrator can assist you in registering for the class (we have class limits on participating learners). If you know that you will be sitting through the classes and want to earn some credit on your account, you are encouraged to sign up as the official classroom volunteer. You may be asked to assist the instructor in some setup or basic management while you are there. It’s a great way to get involved! If you know that your child will require support on their journey, we highly encourage you to participate in the class with your child. Please keep your interactions limited and parents may be asked to leave the room if they are interrupting instruction.

$50 of the Registration Fee is nonrefundable.

All fees, except the $50 non refundable amount, may be refunded when classes are dropped within 24 hours of our Week 1 of classes. 

Classes dropped by Aug 26, 2023 will have a non refundable amount of 50% of the class fee in addition to the non refundable $50 Registration Fee.

No Refunds will be given for dropped classes after August 26, 2023.

All uniform fees will be refunded if the uniform has not been picked up or has not been specially ordered when program withdrawal happens.

Our listed fees are a one-time fee at the beginning of the term, not monthly. These fees cover the cost to rent the facility, the cost to hire professional instructors, registration program costs, insurance costs, equipment, rental for the concert venues, and other administrative costs to run the organization. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization and calculate our costs each term to meet the needs of the organization as close as possible without exceeding them, and fundraise throughout the year to help keep our costs low. If you would like a more detailed listing of our financials, those can be requested.

Each student pays the registration fee once per term.  Each class that they register for has its own individual fee and that is added onto the registration fee for a total for the semester.  

 For example: a child wishes to take choir, band and a theory class.  The fees would look like this:

Membership fee per family $15

 Registration fee per student: $85

Theory: $50

1st ensemble(choir): $95

2nd ensemble(band): $95

 Total: $340

This total is for the entire 12 week semester for 3 hours of classes with professional teachers. We have payment plans available, but do not operate using monthly tuition, just one payment per semester.

SNHPA is a 501c3 non-profit organization, and we are always looking for support for this amazing program, to be able to offer it to more and more students in the valley. Our online store carries the following items:

-Red SNHPA T-shirts  may be purchased by anyone but are not required for all classes. Check uniform requirements for each class to know if required for your student.

-Black Choir Dress rental  means you pay the full amount of $73 now for the  choir dress, but will receive a $45 refund once returned at the end of the Fall or Spring term. The fee is paid once in the Fall for both terms, or paid in the Spring for just Spring term.  (Optional for Ad. Symphony, required for Chamber and Show Choir women.)

-Black Choir Dress Purchase means we will measure and order a dress for you to keep for your student. (Optional for Ad. Symphony, required for Chamber and Show Choir women.)

-Choir tie purchase.  Purchase one for your student. 

-Monday Concert Picture Access and DVD. We hire a professional photographer for pictures and DVD creation. You may purchase access to download unlimited photos from our photographer’s site after the performance or a DVD of the full performance. Picture access only needs to be purchased once per family, but families may purchase more than one DVD if they’d like. IE Purchase both Picture access with DVD and a DVD only to receive 2 DVD’s and picture access.

We will host an Open House Event before our Fall and Spring terms, which includes an Instrument Petting Zoo sponsored by Music and Arts. You are welcome to come and sample the various instruments, see them in person, and get some feedback from our professionals. If you are concerned about a class filling up prior to the Open House Event, you can register for the class and list the instrument as TBD/unknown, and we can help you adjust the registration later. There will be placement auditions happening during our Open House Events, and if you cannot audition in person, you are also welcome to audition by submitting a video. Our goal is to have students in the ensemble best suited for their ability and to help them be most successful. We have groups of all levels, so everyone is welcome! Other than large percussion instruments and a couple of larger wind instruments, we do not provide instruments for the students. We are partners with Music and Arts, and they offer great rates on instrument rentals. If you rent through them ahead of the first class, they will actually deliver the instrument to your teacher on the first day of class. www.MusicArts.com

Music Theory is the study of the written language of music. All students in beginner classes should be in Beginning Music Theory if they have no previous music experience. This applies to Band 1, Strings 1, Guitar 1, Percussion 1, Private Piano and Concert Choir. Elementary Music students ages 9+ are encouraged to enroll in Music Theory as well. As students get better at their instrument, their knowledge of the written language should grow with them. Intermediate and Advanced Theory classes are just as valuable in propelling growth within the program, especially considering that classes are only once per week. The cost for Music Theory classes are much lower to encourage students to include it in their study.

While we don’t do an ‘audition’ for Intermediate and Advanced Music Theory, we do offer a placement test during our Open House Event to help you know if you are ready to move to a higher level. Keep in mind that repetition is key in this type of subject, so a ‘normal’ trajectory is 1-2 years of Beginning Music Theory, 2-3 years of Intermediate Music Theory, and as many as 4 years in Advanced Music Theory. Students who successfully master Advanced Music Theory concepts are ready for college level theory.

YES! All students perform on a concert at the end of term, excluding music theory classes. Elementary and Level 1&2 classes perform on the 12th week of class (the final class day) in a Family Showcase Concert, generally during the time of their regularly scheduled class, and at Christ Church Episcopol. Students in Intermediate and Advanced level classes perform on the following Monday night at the Clark County Library Theater. Please check our Calendar page for more information about performances.

Possibly yes! We try to provide as many high quality performance opportunities for our students as possible. For the Intermediate and Advanced students in particular, there will be performances scheduled for community events such as parades and holiday festivals, adjudicated ensemble festivals, honor band/orchestra/choirs, solo and ensemble festivals, trips out of town, and more. Please check our Calendar page for more information about performances for your particular ensemble.

Each ensemble has a specific dress code for performances. The students in the younger and beginning level classes generally only need to purchase our red SNHPA T-Shirt to be worn with black pants/skirt. Intermediate and Advanced classes wear more formal attire. Visit our Uniform Requirements page to learn more about each ensemble. Students are not allowed to perform if they are not dressed correctly, so we encourage you to purchase your uniforms early in the term.
